Polocaine Dental is a fast-acting local anesthetic designed for both infiltration and nerve block applications. In the maxilla, anesthesia typically begins within 30 to 120 seconds, while in the mandible, onset occurs within 1 to 4 minutes. The anesthetic effect usually lasts about 20 minutes in the upper jaw and up to 40 minutes in the lower jaw, making it well-suited for shorter dental procedures.

This anesthetic should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to local anesthetics or those with congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia. Standard precautions include aspirating prior to injection to minimize the risk of intravascular administration.
